Results of this sampling effort show that all of the monitored water bodies meet the VBWD transparency goals set for each water body. However, possible early signs of water quality degradation were noted for McDonald Lake, Lake DeMontreville, and Silver Lake. Because of these possible early signs of water quality degradation, the VBWD will take further actions at these three lakes in 2008. At McDonald Lake, the VBWD will conduct more intensive monitoring and then evaluate the 2008 monitoring results to determine what further actions should be taken at the lake. For Lake DeMontreville, the VBWD will study potential water quality improvement practices and their benefits to the lake. And, for Silver Lake, the VBWD will continue to monitor the lake’s water quality and encourage others to implement their proposed whole-lake aquatic plant treatment earlier in the spring.
